Apple's share of the Japanese smartphone market has soared 60% in the past five months, and the iPhone 15 is the best-selling smartphone in Japan. Sharp was surpassed by Google, and Android once again dominated in Japan. Google led for two years and four months, leaving the previous three major manufacturers in the same position.
According to a survey report released by Japanese IT research company BCN (based on sales data from Japanese home appliance retailers and online stores), Apple iPhone occupies the top three of the top 10 best-selling smartphones in Japan in January 2025, judging from the sales of various models. Among them, iPhone 15 was the best-selling smartphone in Japan in January, followed by iPhone 14 and iPhone 16.
In January, Lenovo FCNT's "arrows We2" ranked fourth on the sales rankings, followed by Sharp's "Pixel 8a" in fifth place, followed by Sharp's "AQUOS wish4", iPhone 16 Pro, Sharp's "AQUOS sense9", Xiaomi's "Redmi 12 5G" and OPPO's Reno11 A.
Judging from the sales market share of various manufacturers, Apple's market share in January remained stable at 64.4%, and has remained at a high level of 50% since September 2023, exceeding 60% for five consecutive months.
In January, Flipnote's mobile phone sales increased by 40.9% month-on-month, and its market share increased by 7.3 percentage points from Google Play, becoming Japan's No. 1 Android phone; FCNT's sales increased by 137.2% month-on-month, and its market share increased by 5.5 percentage points from the previous month, ranking third.
